Preparing your kids for summer travel!

With school about to finish a lot of kids are going to do some traveling over the summer. Are you prepared to travel internationally? If the minor child is not traveling with both parents you could be blocked from entering the country without a Minor Travel Consent Form.

What is a Minor Travel Consent Form?

This form is a document that basically lays out the major information about the trip, and includes a notarized signature of any parent not accompanying the minor. If neither parent is accompanying them, both parents need to have their signature notarized. It should include the child’s information. (Full name, date of birth and passport details, if applicable.) Information on who is accompanying the child. (Name of the adult the child will be traveling with or a clear statement that they’re traveling unaccompanied.) Itinerary of the trip. (Destinations, travel dates and accommodation details.) Parent or Guardian details. (Full name and contact information for parent(s) or guardian(s) not traveling with the child.

Why do you need it?

It helps keep your child safe and shows it was authorized, it supports international efforts to prevent child abductions, and it can help reduce travel delays. Without proof of parental consent, travel authorities may delay a child’s trip or, in some cases, prohibit them from continuing to their destination.
